I had a brilliant day at Patchings. For those of you who haven't been I would recommend it. There were three huge marquees full of artists and crafts people all creating and selling the most beautiful things. there was glass ware, pottery, metal work, painting, furniture, woodwork, textiles, photography and many more. so much originality and people happy to talk and explain what they are doing. I was looking for birthday presents for a couple of friends and I was spoilt for choice. In the end I bought two little mirrors with art nouveau style lead work on them. Lovely young man selling them who explained to me how he makes them and seemed genuinely pleased when I said how much I liked them.
I pre-booked a workshop with Dee Cowell to try out the new Derwent Artbars and also went to a demonstration of PanPastels for a landscape. Both were very interesting and I came away with a set of Artbars, some 'tools' to use with them and a new colour to add to my Pan Pastel basic painting set. I'm off to Nottingham tomorrow to visit the Patchings Art Festival. I entered the Leisure Painter art competition and was delighted to have one of my entries accepted. I'm looking forward to seeing one of my pictures hanging in a public gallery and am waiting to hear whether I have won one of the many prizes. I was surprised at their choice of picture from the two that I submitted. Which one would you choose? The one on the left is called 'Sun Worshippers' and the one on the right is called 'Sunny Smiles'
So this is my first blog post. As yet there is no live website for it to go on but by the time you are reading it obviously my website will be on the World Wide Web - amazing! It wasn't so very long ago that www was the domain of those 'in the know' but now we can all do it.
