Waterproof ink and watercolours this time. I loved the wonky stairs and pots of bright summer flowers in this scene but also that cool inviting corner leading under the stairs to another place.

We moved house recently and in the garden I discovered a big patch of these stunning blue and purple flowers. It's called Cerinthe Major Purpurascens I believe and they are not true flowers - the blue parts are bracts - but they looked stunning in the sunshine. Once again I used what I had learnt on Karen's mixed media course and started with a layer of collaged textures then added lots of water and acrylic inks. Once dry I worked into it with more ink and some Neocolours to try and portray this fantastic clump of plants that was just constantly buzzing with happy bees. Just a bit of Sunday afternoon fun. I wanted to brighten up this old set of IKEA wooden drawers so I looked through a big pile of old 'reject' paintings and found this one. I drew round the drawer fronts onto the back of the sheet, cut them up and glued them in place with some PVA glue. A quick coat of white acrylic paint on the rest of the box and voila! - Much better! |
