I pre-booked a workshop with Dee Cowell to try out the new Derwent Artbars and also went to a demonstration of PanPastels for a landscape. Both were very interesting and I came away with a set of Artbars, some 'tools' to use with them and a new colour to add to my Pan Pastel basic painting set.
I had a brilliant day at Patchings. For those of you who haven't been I would recommend it. There were three huge marquees full of artists and crafts people all creating and selling the most beautiful things. there was glass ware, pottery, metal work, painting, furniture, woodwork, textiles, photography and many more. so much originality and people happy to talk and explain what they are doing. I was looking for birthday presents for a couple of friends and I was spoilt for choice. In the end I bought two little mirrors with art nouveau style lead work on them. Lovely young man selling them who explained to me how he makes them and seemed genuinely pleased when I said how much I liked them.
